HALLOWEEN is fast approaching and Dennis Wise is confident Alex Rhodes is the man to frighten the lives' out of League Two defenders while spurring the likes of Fola Onibuje towards a healthier goal haul.

The Brentford striker has been the club's top finisher on the training ground this week and the manager says the loan man is itching for a start - especially having had a debut goal' chalked off against Grimsby last week.

A first start could beckon at Gay Meadow today should Lee Peacock be deemed too great a risk (calf injury) but even if Rhodes misses out, Town's starting front pair will run out on to the pitch well aware that the man from Griffin Park is breathing down their respective necks.

The Town boss said: "Alex was on for half an hour last week, caused an awful lot of problems and scored' with an instinctive finish. It wasn't offside.

"He's going to be one that frightens the life out of them, he really is.

"He's come here and he's the top finisher at the present moment.

"Alex is putting the pressure on the other strikers and they know it, which is good.

"We brought him here ahead of the Grimsby game and we've ended up scoring three goals.

"He is breathing down their necks and is itching to get into the team and prove something.

"They've all got to be on their toes."

A sound defensive record means the strikers are not under immense pressure to net at this stage but Wise feels goals are in the air.

He said: "When my strikers start scoring we're going to cause a lot of problems for people.

"They've haven't constantly scored but we'll get that very shortly, I can see it coming at the present moment.

"When we do we probably will be beating a few teams by three or so.

"On our goals for' we're not as great as everyone else, we know that.

"We have had a lot of chances and been working a lot on finishing.

"I'd like more goals off them (the strikers)."

Fola Onibuje has been picked out as a pre-match threat by Shrewsbury boss Gary Peters and Wise wants the youngster to build on his solitary strike for the club.

"Fola (Onibuje) has done okay.

"I'd like him to put his opportunities away. He needs to concentrate more on finishing.

"He's a little naive in the way that he plays and we're working on the different ways to make his game better, but we're getting there."
