STEF Kuczynski said his Wroughton team were “disappointed but not downhearted” after their 5-1 defeat at Wilts Calne Town left them bottom of the Wiltshire Premier.

Wroughton, managed by Kuczynski and Robbie Broadbank, were 4-0 down at half time but matters were much more even after the break.

Sam Broadbank found the net to ensure the visitors at least drew the second period, as Calne found the net once more.

“The players are still a bit gullible and getting caught out for silly things,” admitted Kuczynski.

“They aren’t that good in front of goal, although we created five or six good chances on Saturday.

“The first five or 10 minutes they dominated us but then we came back into the game.

“The lads committed themselves when they should have stood back and then we were a goal down.

“We were four down at half time but to be fair to the lads they came out and shaded the second half.

“I think we had two one-on-ones and a couple of efforts just wide. I’m sure Calne would admit themselves that the score flattered them a bit.”

Kuczynski added that he felt the team spirit in the camp would serve the Weir Field side well in 2011/12.

“We’ve got some good lads there and the atmosphere is good,” he said.

“You wouldn’t have thought in the dressing room on Saturday that we had just got beat 5-1.

“We haven’t got any big-time Charlies, we’re all on a level and that’s the reason why there’s a good atmosphere.

“We’ll keep battling away and hopefully there will be light at the end of the tunnel. There’s a long way to go yet.”
