Robins boss Alun Rossiter made a quick exit after the meeting to travel to Sweden for this weekend's Scandinavian GP, but was pleased with the focus his side showed in a meeting they were always expected to win.

“We always thought we would win the meeting, but we had to go into it with the right attitude because if we didn’t it could have become a bit of a banana skin for us, and the boys all had the right attitude to make sure that didn’t happen.

“All of the guys rode well and Jason (Doyle) did well to rife with the injury he suffered, and it would have been more but he blew an engine out at the end which was unfortunate.

“Everyone before the meeting was talking about how big the Poole meeting would be, but I was always focussed on this one, and now it is out the way we can start to think how big the Poole meeting will be for us.”

Kildemand jumps the first start as all four riders are called back, but Schlein makes the gate in the second staging of the race to win with ease as Doyle packs up.

Stead superbly works his way from the back to the front to claim the win. Great stuff from the reserve, who eyed Gafurov up for two laps before making the pass and then pipped Doyle on the line.

The Robins duo hold of Schlein to claim a 5-1, and with it all three points from the meeting.

Kildemand takes the win, but Lampart has to hold on for third as Gafurov charges on.

Schlein takes victory as the Aces use their second tactical ride of the night. The Robins duo seem content with the minor places.

Gafurov pressures the Swindon duo coming out of turn two, but Morris gets the better of him while Andersen settles for third.

Doyle and Kildemand are at it again as they beat Grajzconek and the hapless Artur Mrocka.

Morris takes a spill in turn one and is excluded. Lampart twitches at the start causing another re-run, in which he flies into the fence forcing another restart in which the Aces cruise to victory.

Batchelor takes it from the gate, and Stead holds off Dryml going into turn three of lap one for the Robins’ second straight maximum.

Andersen makes the gate and wins with ease, and Morris passes Grajczonek for the 5-1.

Schlein takes an easy win as the Robins pair settle in behind

Heat Four: Dryml, Lampart, Batchelor, Mrocka. 66.55 (15-9)
Dryml takes the win, but Batchelor chases him down before losing power but hold onto third as Mrocka suffers the same fate.

Heat Three: Doyle, Kildemand, Gafurov, Masters. 67.15 (12-6)
The team of Kildemand and Doyle strike again to take a 5-1 from the tapes.

Heat Two: Stead, Dryml, Lampart, Grajczonek. 66.14
Stead burst away from the tapes to take the win, and the Robins take a heat advantage as Lampart settles in third as Grajczonek locks up in turn one.

Andersen wins it after a good start from the outside, Morris is on the pace at the back but can’t pass Schlein.

The Robins used Belle Vue top man Rory Schlein as a guest for Hans Andersen last week against Coventry, but the Aussie is not confident of getting too much from tonight's meeting.

“To be honest I am not really expecting a lot from the meeting, because it is top against bottom of the table.

“We have still got a depleted side with Charlie Gjedde and Craig Cook missing from the team for a little while yet, and what we have got really is a makeshift side.

“For me personally, I am still trying to find my form from last year when I was going really well, so we can’t really expect too much.

“But we will go there and do our best, just as we always do, and when you do that you never know what you can come away with.

“Every club has a spell like we have had once in a while, and there are plenty of ups and downs, that is speedway.

“It happens to every team and Belle Vue will be back for sure, but this year has been really difficult.”

Jason Doyle will ride for the Robins this evening despite suffering a big crash in Poland on Sunday, and despite thinking he had broken his jaw, the Aussie didn't even go to hospital.

I didn’t really want to go to the hospital with it because I have been to that same hospital before when I dislocated my shoulder there, and they pretty much killed me when I went there before and I didn’t really want to have to go there again.

“The journey back to England wasn’t great because I was in a lot of pain, and I didn’t go to the hospital in the end even though it is still a bit sore.

“I don’t think it is broken now though because I can open my mouth a bit, so hopefully it will be okay.

“I really don’t want to be missing any Swindon meetings at all because I have missed enough already when I have been riding for Somerset, so there was no way I was going to pull out if I was able to ride.

“I will have to wait and see what the pain is like when I get my helmet on, but I can’t wait to get back on the bike.”

Simon Stead drops to reserve for tonight's meeting, and Rossiter believes the move could suit the Yorkshireman.

“Being at reserve should work well for Simon, and it could give him a lot of confidence,” Rossiter said.

“In the last couple of weeks since we looked at the possibility of making a change he has looked a lot sharper, and he has tried a few things which seem to be working.

“It has certainly had the effect we wanted and Simon has been great, and hopefully that will continue against Belle Vue.”

On paper the two sides look mismatched with the Robins flying high while the Aces sit at the foot of the table, but Swindon boss Alun Rossiter will not let his riders take anything for granted this evening.

“Every time you go into a meeting like this we need to be sure we take it seriously, because if you don’t that is the time you can slip up and make mistakes,” he said.

“We will treat the meeting as normal, because it is another one we have to win to keep battling with Poole to finish top.

“Belle Vue have had a tough season and they have been struggling, but we will treat them with 100 per cent respect because that is exactly what they deserve.

“There are no givens in speedway at all, and we can not afford to slip up, so the riders know exactly what they have to do.”
