David Howell did not make the cut at the KLM Open
DAVID Howell’s second round at the KLM Open started badly and didn’t get much better.
The former Ryder Cup star had been bidding for a 10th straight cut at Hilversumsche Golf Club in the Netherlands, but his hopes were dashed today.
Teeing off at the 10th, Howell double-bogeyed one of the course’s rare par threes, and bogeys on 14 and 16 took him to four over for the day and the tournament.
A birdie four at 18 was a fleeting bright spot for the Wiltshire man given that he immediately dropped a stroke at the first.
Bogeys at seven and eight followed as the 37-year-old missed the cut by a significant margin, finishing on six-over-par overall.
Englishman Graeme Storm held the clubhouse lead at the time of writing on 11-under. Play will continue tomorrow and Sunday.
The next event on the European Tour is the Italian Open in Turin, which starts on Thursday.
