"Everyone did their job tonight, and it is good to be in the final because that was our aim at the start of the year.

"We always knew we could be there, and it is just good to have it now.

Beautiful first corner from Stead is enough for the win, as he cuts back past everyone. Lampart goes down to lose third.

Andersen absolutely flew out of the gate to win heat one, and Morris was close behind him to stretch the home lead at the earliest opportunity.

The Robins have won the toss, and will go off gates two and four.

Troy Batchelor believes Poole will be intimidated by the way the Robins swept aside Birmingham on Monday night ahead of a potential grand final meeting between the two teams.

“They were obviously riding on the night, but I think Poole would have watched our meeting back and seen the score, and will be thinking to themselves that they have their work cut out,” he said.

“Everyone puts Poole up on a pedestal which is okay because they are a good side, but so are we.

“We are ready for them, that is for sure, and we have a good one to seven which is exactly what you need to win titles.

“Pete (Kildemand) is in awesome form and Doyley (Jason Doyle) is awesome too, and we have a lot of heat leaders and no second strings.

“Poole have three good riders at the top end, but the others let the rest of the team down.

“Winning heats 4-2 is what wins meetings, not drawing 3-3, so it is going to be an interesting match that is for sure.”

The only disappointment from Monday night's win at Birmingham was Simon Stead's score of 1+1, which Alun Rossiter believes is down to a complete lack of meetings.

SIMON STEAD

“The only down side to everything at the moment is the complete lack of rides that Simon Stead is getting at the moment, which everyone can clearly see,” he said.

“It has been a hard season for him because he has only been riding in the Elite League while the other boys have been off all over the place, and I suppose it is not really his fault because he can’t double up.

“There isn’t really anything we can do about it but it is a real problem because he doesn’t really look comfortable on the bike at all.

“He just has to keep going and help his groin holds up because he is struggling with that after a crash.

“So with that and the lack of meetings it is a worry.”

“Tonight’s meeting is really important for him to get sorted ahead of hopefully the final on Monday.”

Rossiter is also pleased to have Dawid Lampart available to him once again, after the Pole missed Monday’s victory through injury.

“We always want a full team out and it will be good to have Dawid back because he has done well for us this year.

“He hasn’t quite been himself recently either, so he will want a good night tonight.”

Jason Doyle is relishing the prospect of facing former club Poole in the final, and will use it as motivation during tonight's meeting.

“I will not try and block it out at all, and I think I will probably use it as motivation to do well in the second leg because that would be a massive meeting,” he said.

“Last year when Poole made the final I don’t think I even got a mention because I was injured for it having rode the whole season before that.

“We want another big win, but we don’t want to think it is easy and end up letting it slip, so if we all go there and do our jobs then we will be in the final for sure.”

Captain Hans Andersen is keen on using tonight's meeting to try out a few things ahead of a potential final against Poole.

“We can go out and do a bit of testing on track because you do your best testing when you’re racing people.

“Not disrespecting Birmingham but we’ve still got a 20-point lead, so it’s more important to get a few bits and pieces completely dialled in for Monday when it comes down to the crunch.

“I will spread the word around being captain. Everyone wants to score a maximum every meeting, but I will encourage the boys to maybe try a few bits and pieces, just to make sure we’re on top of our game when Poole comes round.

“You still still have your usual bike which you normally ride, but maybe try something with a second bike.”

First up, although the Robins secured a crushing victory at Perry Barr on Monday, boss Alun Rossiter has warned against complacency.

“We have got one foot in the final, but it is only one foot, and we can’t switch off,” he said. “You can’t be cocky because it is only the first half that is done, and they will run us close at Blunsdon I’m sure.

“It is a track Birmingham like and it is always a bit slicker, and we need the fans to be behind us to show their support to the boys and get us into the final.

“Peter was incredible for us, but we did well right the way through the team although Simon didn’t have the best of nights. For him it is a lack of meetings, but he will be alright and he will score the points at home I’m sure.

"I was watching the golf on Sunday night and I was jumping around the living room when Justin Rose found the hole, so I am glad my neighbours were away.

“But we don’t want to be in the position the Americans found themselves in, so we have a big meeting coming up on Thursday.”

Good evening, and welcome to the Abbey Stadium for the Robins' play-off semi-final second leg against Birmingham.

Swindon bring a 20-point lead into this evening's meeting following their superb 55-35 victory at Perry Barr on Monday night, but they are taking nothing for granted as they bid to make the next week's final against the Poole Pirates.

Some very dark clouds have gathered over Blunsdon in the hour leading up to the meeting, but the rain is only very light and we are expected to get away on time.
