CYCLING: Jake is trial champion

CHIPPENHAM Wheelers Jake Coward, 16, secured his position as overall junior xhampion in the final leg of the National Rudy Project Cycling Time Trial Series.

The series, held on courses across the country, consists of eight events, with categories for men, women, espoirs, juniors, veterans and disabled riders.

National women’s’ champion Julia Shaw and world champion paracyclist Colin Lynch were among the entries in the final event.

Coward covered the 20.5 mile course in 51 minutes 52 seconds as the Wheelers won the team prize courtesy of Owen Burgess (fourth fastest senior), Coward and Lewis Revill, 14 (second junior).
