CHIPPENHAM Town goalkeeper Conor Thompson looks destined for a return to League football after agreeing a deal with League Two Torquay United tonight.
Teenager Thompson, who was snapped up by Bluebirds boss Nathan Rudge earlier this season, announced via his Twitter account this evening that he had signed for the Gulls, managed by former Swindon Town midfielder Martin Ling.
He said: "Just signed for Torquay! Massive step in the right direction.''
It is understood he has agreed a deal until the end of the season.
Thompson left Swindon Town’s youth set-up at the end of last season before a short spell with Gloucester City after which he joined Chippenham.
Rudge was aware that the 17-year-old was being tracked for a league return and reacted by completing the signing of Ben John, 29, from Cinderford Town.
