RUNNING: Plummer claims county crown

SIMON Plummer was crowned county half-marathon champion with victory in the 30th Cricklade race on Sunday.
The Salisbury A&RC runner clocked a season’s best of 1:09:55 to complete a clean sweep, having clinched the Castle Combe 10K and Melksham 10 titles. Michael Towler, of Avon Valley Runners, was second, while sixth – and third county runner home – was Andrew Ind, of Marlborough RC.
Avon Valley Runners’ Fiona Price continued her good form with 1:28:14 to take the ladies county prize.
Jo Mumford, of Avon Valley Runners, was fourth for the bronze.
The race was also the 10th in the Wiltshire Race League and Swindon Harriers took maximum points ahead of Chippenham Harriers.
Avon Valley Runners remain in top spot for the men with a four-point advantage over Chippenham.
Chippenham Harriers regained first place in the women’s standings, taking maximum points ahead of Swindon's Slinn Allstars.
The next race in the Wiltshire Race League is the Calne Clock Change Challenge 10K on October 28.
Geoff Ellis (RAF AC) took his fourth victory in five appearances at the Southwick County Parkrun last Saturday, clocking 19 minutes and six seconds.
Unattached runners Peter Webb (19:12) and Daniel Bartlett (19:26) were second and third.
Kate Hails, of Run4Fitness was 16th overall and the first woman home in 23:54, ahead of Bryony Minter (24:30) and Avon Valley Runners’ Holly Newman (26:26).
