Just a point for Swindon then, but it could quite easily have been two. Skinns add a few brilliant saves tonight, Paul Swindlehurst and Stevie Whitfield had super games at the back, too.

8:37pm

Lukas Smital has broken the deadlock, squeezing into the left corner.

8:36pm

Melichar shoots into the chest of Carl Ambler.

8:35pm

Skinns blocks from Rob Lamey.

8:34pm

Kapicka misses.

8:33pm

Petran misses. Will anyone score?

8:33pm

Nell misses.

8:32pm

Shaun Thompson fires high. 0-0 it remains.

8:32pm

Hoog misses. Still 0-0.

8:31pm

Skinns saves brilliantly from Jan Bendik.

8:31pm

Perkkio misses.

8:28pm

Penalty shootout it is.

8:26pm

Lots of speculative strikes raining in but very few genuine opportunities.

8:21pm

Overtime starts.

8:19pm

We're going to overtime. It's a point for Swindon at least.

8:18pm

Jan Melichar blocks heroically from Masa.

8:17pm

Kapicka returns with less than 20 seconds left.

8:15pm

Kapicka binned for slashing and it's all about survival now for Cats.

8:13pm

Three to go. This could go either way.

8:09pm

Cats think they've scored, but they haven't.

8:08pm

Play getting increasingly frantic. Six minutes to go.

8:05pm

Perkkio just nearly took out some poor bloke stood right at the top of the stand with a deflected shot. Well-ducked.

8:03pm

7:58pm

Kapicka is back.

7:58pm

Skinns makes a fabulous save, then the Bees claim they have it in the net. Masa leads the calls. No cigar.

7:57pm

Bracknell have had enough powerplay chances to last them a lifetime, six in total so far.

7:56pm

Bullas and Galazzi are back.

7:55pm

Kapicka binned.

7:52pm

Sam Bullas and James Galazzi binned.

7:50pm

It seems an awful long time since we had a goal in this game.

7:48pm

Skinns appears to have a facial problem here. Not clear what caused it. He's carrying on, anyway.

7:44pm

Third period is go.

7:24pm

ADVER SPORTS WRITER NED PAYNE

Strange sort of second period. Plenty of shots but no goals, could quite easily have been another four. All to play for at the Hive.

7:24pm

End of second period. Still 2-2.

7:23pm

Jones is back. Penalty killed.

7:20pm

Chris Jones binned.

7:16pm

Penalty killed.

7:16pm

Alan Lack binned. Apologies, bit late with that one.

7:12pm

I can't remember the last one mind. Lots of Bees pressure at the moment.

7:07pm

Swindlehurst back and that's back to back penalties killed.

7:05pm

Watt returns.

7:05pm

Swindlehurst binned. Ouch.

7:04pm

A baby would struggle to sleep with that drum banging away...

7:03pm

Nicky Watt binned.

7:02pm

Positive start to the second by Wildcats. No end product as yet, though.

6:59pm

The Swindon drum brigade are on particularly good form tonight. Deafening.

6:55pm

6:55pm

Second period underway.

6:38pm

ADVER SPORTS WRITER NED PAYNE

Swindon are level, but they have lost plenty of games like this in 2012/13 so far. This is a game that needs grinding out.

6:37pm

First period over.

6:34pm

Hoog lays into the path of Aaron Nell. Great chance. Denied!

6:31pm

GOAL (Bracknell 2, Wildcats 2)

The visitors have soaked up plenty of pressure and there's the sucker punch. It was Hoog that scored it, although the stadium announcer seemed to lose his bearings on that one. Eventually he calls it. Well done that man.

6:24pm

GOAL! (Bracknell 2, Wildcats 1)

With Swindlehurst out, Bracknell take advantage almost in slow motion. Shaun Thompson lays across goal for Martin Masa and he pokes in on the stretch when it didn't look like he could reach it. Strange sort of goal.

6:21pm

Swindlehurst binned for two minutes.

6:15pm

GOAL! (Bracknell 1, Wildcats 1)

The lead didn't last long. The Bees break and Rob Lamey lays inside for Marcel Petran to direct his shot past Skinns. Too easy for the hosts.

6:11pm

Three good saves by Swindon's Dean Skinns in quick succession, including from a two-on-one.

6:09pm

GOAL! (Bracknell 0, Swindon 1)

Wow. Just 16 seconds gone and that's one heck of an opening for the visitors. Jonas Hoog was left completely unmarked by the Bees defence and he flicked the puck calmly into the bottom left corner. Bingo.

6:07pm

And we're off.

6:00pm

Anyway, enough of me playing Mark Kermode. Here we go.

5:58pm

Rousing music from Pirates of the Caribbean being played to gee up the crowd. What an awful series of films they were.

5:55pm

Safe to say the Hive is not heaving tonight. Instructions being barked by the announcer. Six minutes now.

5:51pm

Are you that fella from Harry Potter? Oh wait...

5:49pm

Not icing for Cats tonight are netminder Tom Murdy and defence and Shane Moore. No surprises there.

GET INVOLVED

Don't forget you can get involved by leaving your comments below or tweeting using #swindonwildcats. I will reprint the best comments here. Outright abuse will (probably) not make it.

5:46pm

WILDCATS HEAD COACH RYAN ALDRIDGE

“With Bracknell it will be business as usual.

“We went to watch them against Milton Keynes the other night and they were definitely crawling back into that game (Bracknell lost 4-3).

“They are a good side in their own building and we have to match that.”

5:45pm

WILDCATS D-MAN PAUL SWINDLEHURST

“Bracknell are playing really well this year so we’re not going to underrate them.

“The league is going to be very close this year and you can’t afford to go into any game thinking it’s in the bag."

5:42pm

The players have cleared the ice and we're 20 minutes away from face-off.

5:40pm

Yes! After no less than eight attempts, I've finally managed to get a picture of Wildcats warming up on our site. It's a thumbnail pic you can see in the Sport or Ice Hockey sections just before you click on this article. Was it worth the effort? Arguable. Enjoy anyway.

5:27pm

The Wildcats players have just hopped out on the ice and the warm-up is taking place as we speak. Two points tonight would be three for the weekend and a pretty decent return by all accounts. Easier said than done, though.

5:20pm

Welcome to the snappily-named John Nike Leisuresport Complex where Swindon take on Bracknell tonight. We'll just call it the Hive for now.
