SHELLEY Rudman moved up two place as she finished seventh in the opening round of the women's Skeleton World Cup in Lake Placid today.

The Pewsey slider was ninth after the opening two qualifying runs in the United States yesterday, but moved up the leaderboard as Canada's Sarah Reid clinched her first World Cup win.

Defending World Cup champion Rudman, 30, clocked 56.14 in her third run - her fastest of the meeting - to finish just under a second behind Reid.

She said on Twitter: "7th in today's world cup race ... The sliding mojo is nearly coming back!

Reid edged out compatriot Mellissa Hollingsworth by just 0.03 seconds, while Rudman's British teammate Donna Creighton finished just off the podium in fourth, just 0.33 behind Germany's Marion Thees.
