CHIPPENHAM TOWN: 'How have we not won that?', says Harris

CHIPPENHAM Town midfielder Adie Harris was disappointed not to see the Bluebirds take all three points against Bedworth United yesterday.

The visitors capitalised on a defensive lapse to take the lead at Hardenhuish Park before frustrating Nathan Rudge’s side in the second 45 minutes until Alan Griffin rescued a point with an 88th minute equaliser.

Harris, who joined Chippenham from Bath City last month, thought that his side deserved to notch up a second successive win but is taking heart from recent Bluebirds performances.

“In the last three games we’ve conceded first and today, it was totally against the run of play again,” said Harris.

“How we haven’t won that (yesterday), I don’t know - I thought that we were playing some nice football in the first half too.

“We battered Leamington away because they hadn’t come up against a side that plays like us and last Tuesday we were on a massive pitch in difficult conditions and we won.

“So we’re not far off and I’m sure that we’ll start winning games soon.

“We’ve got a lot of good players and we’ll get better as the season goes on.”

Rudge’s men currently sit 16th in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division and face a lengthy midweek trip for the second week in succession.

On Tuesday evening, Chippenham travel to Leicestershire to take on fifth-placed Barwell.

The Kirkby Roaders are unbeaten in five matches.
