SWINDON were denied three precious points against Lansdown as the visitors grabbed a late equaliser in Premier Division 2A.

Heading into the final minutes 2-1 up, Swindon conceded and therefore had to be content with a point.

Lansdown had initially taken the lead inside the opening five minutes and after the home side spurned several chances to equalise, Julie Lewis swept into the back of the net.

Soon afterwards, Vicki Stokes pushed the ball past the Lansdown keeper to put Swindon 2-1 ahead.

Keeper Sarah Annesty ensured that advantage remained intact at the break when she saved a penalty flick after the umpire ruled a goalscoring opportunity had been denied.

Despite having more of the possession in the second half, Swindon were unable to extend their lead.

And with the clock running down, Lansdown broke the defensive line and directed the ball into the net to ensure the game finished 2-2.

Swindon's player of the match went to Claire Tyas who set up Lewis' opener and created many other chances.

Elsewhere, North Wilts ended Marlborough's run of five straight wins in Wessex Division 1 by holding their visitors to a 0-0 draw.

A solid defensive display saw the league leaders restricted to minimal shots in the first half.

On the one occasion that Marlborough did force the ball into the net, the goal was disallowed because the player was not on her feet.

Natasha Cremin, Hazel Leedham and Emily Dunn gave an excellent defensive display, while in the centre Camilla Fisher and Dani Hopping tirelessly jockeyed the opposition players.

Pixie Bickell was committed to every tackle in the middle and Maddie Wojtowicz worked hard down the wing.

The second half was played in a similar manner, with Nicole Dhillon, Robyn Mathews and Emma Hindmarch unable to worry the Marlborough goalkeeper.

An away player was yellow-carded before Marlborough won a penalty corner with the last play of the game, but the ball was cleared.

North Wilts goalkeeper Hannah Sherratt was voted player of the match for her spectacular display.

Meanwhile, Katy Cox scored a hat-trick as Wootton Bassett drew 3-3 at home to BAC. Cox was also awarded player of the match.

North Wilts 2nds found the going tough against Yate 3rds as they were defeated 7-0 in Berkeley Division 3.

Yate were 4-0 up at half-time but North Wilts were unlucky not to pull one back after the break, when a short corner resulted in Gabby Bickell striking against the post.

This galvanised the opposition and they added three goals late in the game to run out convincing winners.

Swindon 2nds made it four wins in a row in Wessex Division 2 with a 4-0 win against Wootton Bassett 3rds.

The goals came from Nicola Wylie, Ellie Symonds, and Kim Taylor (2), while Ella Caldwell was awarded player of the match.
