CHIPPENHAM Town assistant boss Richard Fey thinks that it’s about time that the Bluebirds made sure that they start to come away with what they deserve from games.

Chippenham slipped to a frustrating defeat at Redditch United yesterday, despite enjoying the lion’s share of possession and forcing their opponents into their own half for the majority of the second period.

“I think that’s now eight games on the trot where we’ve had a lot of possession and couldn’t get that goal to get ourselves in front," said Fey.

“(Ben) John’s only had one save to make and their goal came from a deflected shot from 30 yards that’s gone in – that’s the way the rub of the green’s gone for us this season.

“Like Nath said after the game to the boys, it’s easy for the manager to come in and kick off, saying this and saying that, but we couldn’t ask any more of the boys.

“For 70 minutes we dominated the game and any neutral watching the game would see that we deserved something, but we can’t keep saying it.

“People can say that it was a rubbish game at Bideford (on November 6) but we took the 2-1 and the three points and then yesterday, we played some good stuff and did all the right things and came away with no points – it’s hard to swallow.

“We need to stamp our authority on these games and start getting one or two goals ahead to start turning these draws and losses into wins.”

Yesterday's loss at Redditch saw the Bluebirds slip to 17th in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division.

Nathan Rudge's side are next in action when they travel to sixth-placed St Albans City next weekend.
