HANNAH Miley shows no sign of taking her foot off the pedal as she prepares to race in the European Short Course Championships in Chartres, France, which begin today.

The Swindon-born flyer - well-known for her seemingly endless energy in the pool - will compete in no less than 10 events for Team GB as she looks to build on her showing at London 2012.

Miley heads up an 18-strong contingent that will take to the water in the 25m pool at the Odyssey Complex and the 23-year-old will hope to go one or two better than at last year’s competition in Szczecin, Poland, where she won bronze in the 200m individual medley and silver in the 400m IM.

She also made the final of the 400m freestyle where she finished fifth, while she was 13th in the 200m breaststroke.

Speaking about the 2012 competition, Miley said: "This competition is good because in the middle of a long season it will give me a good indication of where I am with my training and to be able to turn race mode on.

“The year after a Games is always an intriguing one with athletes changing programmes or training patterns, so to see where I am compared to my main competitors is really important.

“It's going to be great to be back in a team environment. This competition is about switching back into race mode and having a decent-sized team around you is important. Going up to race with the team behind you is great and I can't wait to have that support again.”

Alongside Miley, the GB team also includes London 2012 Olympians Aimee Willmott and Siobhan-Marie O’Connor, while US Open medallists Jack Burnell, Lauren Quigley and Karley Mann will also take part.

The competition, which starts tomorrow and finishes on Sunday, will see mixed relay teams race against each other for the first time in international swimming.
