DEVIZES continued their surge up the Davis Wood League Central Two division as a top-class performance put their visitors to the sword.

Smith committed the keeper for Josh Bond to tap in, before Bond was on hand to tap in from the back post.

Smith added the fourth from a deflection off a well-worked short-corner routine early in the second half.

The goals kept coming with two wonder strikes from Steve Box and Smith completed his hat-trick with a few minutes to go.

Tom Griffiths scored the final goal with the last hit of the match.

n Marlborough were unable to make it three Championship wins on the trot as they lost out to Gloucester City in a goal-filled encounter.

They opened the scoring when a Chris Jones drag flick found the net following a short corner routine.

Gloucester equalised a minute later and then scored a further two to lead 3-1 after only ten minutes.

Marlborough pulled a goal back after sharp play by Matt Ashton, striker Will Hughes finishing from close range.

Gloucester restored their two-goal advantage, only for home skipper Richard Holman to pull one back and Matt Osbourne to tie it at 4-4.

Gloucester retook the lead at the start of the second half, but Marlborough earned a penalty flick that was dispatched by Anil Sud.

The game remained level going into the last five minutes, but Gloucester broke free and scored two more goals. Marlborough pressed again and another visitors’ strike wrapped it up 8-5.
