DEVIZES youngster Jack Ball received a boxing masterclass from Team GB’s Olympic coaches on a visit to the British Amateur Boxing Association headquarters at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

The Devizes Amateur Boxing club 11-year-old was nominated to take part by coach Mike Hemming and was put through his paces by former Olympic and Commonwealth medallist Richie Woodall.

Ball also worked up a sweat on the pads with Great Britain podium coach Bob Dillon, before an intense shadow boxing session in the official London 2012 boxing ring. He also met London 2012 stars Tom Stalker and Savannah Marshall and watched Team GB training.

Hemming said: “Jack had a day that he will remember for a long time to come and he took a group of youngsters at our next training session using some of the things he learned on his day with the GB team.”

The opportunity came courtesy of the Cash 4 Clubs scheme, finded by online bookmaker Betfair, which gives sports clubs in the country the chance to win grants.
