THREE points at Keynsham Town provided the perfect New Year’s Day hangover cure for Calne Town.
In the only game of the day in the Toolstation League First Division to survive the wet weather, defender Greg Tindle poked home the decisive goal midway through the second half for the Lilywhites.
“There were a lot of sore heads – we had players being sick before the game and at half-time,” said Calne joint-boss Jeff Roberts.
“There were some sensible ones but there isn’t too much you can do about that if you’re not paying players a lot of money.
“Keynsham were putting in a lot of late tackles to try and unsettle us, so we had to battle, but we did that and Greg got the goal we needed when the keeper fumbled his shot and he tapped it in.
“It was the perfect start to the New Year.”
