The majority of sides from the Trowbridge Windows & Conservatories sponsored-Trowbridge & District Football League made a welcome return to action at the weekend following their two-week winter break.

Boomsbury's Division One title charge stayed on course with a routine win over a North Bradley side shorn of three key players and playing their first match in 49 days.

The hosts repelled plenty of early Boomsbury raids before their first error was punished - both centre halfs went for the same ball and the flick was picked up by Scott Askew who calmly slotted home for 1-0.

However, Bradley soon levelled thanks to goalkeeper Neil Hannaford, who spotted his opposite number off his line and his massive punt from inside his own box took one bounce before looping over Luke Mayne.

Mayne then redeemed himself with three vital interceptions and a smart save as Reuben Spong and then Tom Wade went within inches of putting Bradley ahead.

Boomsbury composed themselves and the constant running of Carl Davies on the right flank paid off when his neat cross was headed home by Askew.

Shortly before half time Dan Dominy found himself in space on the edge of the area and expertly found the bottom corner of the net with his left foot.

Mike Grieve made it 4-1 shortly after the break with a close range finish following another smart Hannaford save, but the game wasn't quite finished as Spong made it 4-2 from close range.

Moments after Wade had a similar effort saved as Bradley's improved possession and effort closed the gap between the sides, but Boomsbury started to exploit the space ruthlessly and scored three further goals, which could have been more if not for some committed defending and goalkeeping.

Askew headed home to complete his hat-trick, Carl Davies made it 6-2 and a fourth of the game from Askew, who was making a rare appearance for Boomsbury this term, took his tally for the game to four and his team's to seven.

Warminster Town Reserves 0 Westbury United Reserves 0

IN A game of very few chances, neither Warminster Town Reserves or Westbury United Reserves were unable to conjure up that little piece of magic that would have given them a derby day victory.

The best of the action game in the opening 20 minutes, with Westbury been twice denied by goal line clearances and the hosts within a whisker of breaking the deadlock.

After that neither side could claim to have a match winning opportunity.

MATCHES OFF: Bradford United v Freshford United, Melksham Town Reserves.
