WILTSHIRE LEAGUE: Blyskawica are back in the groove

SKS BLYSKAWICA shook off the cobwebs of Christmas to defeat Wroughton 3-1 in the Wiltshire Premier.
Phil Trueman’s men have not played a league game since losing 4-1 to Southbrook on December 1 and there were visible signs early on that they were not quite up to speed.
However, matters soon got going and both sides hit the woodwork, Wroughton going close first before Blyskawica did the same.
Blyskawica also missed two one-on-ones before Tom Kopinski put his side in front.
Ashley Chapman pulled off a lovely dink over the keeper following a through-ball from Kopinski to double the advantage.
After the break Blyskawica were the dominant outfit and Kopinski grabbed his second, before Wroughton got a consolation.
Blyskawica boss Trueman admitted his players took a while to get into the game but was pleased with the end result.
“The first 20 minutes both sides looked a bit edgy and leggy because it was the first game back,” he said.
“We had had near enough four or five weeks off and you could see that in both sides.
“It was all long ball but after that we started playing a bit of football and that was it.
“We’ve been struggling a bit for players this season to be honest, but we’re starting to get a few back now and hopefully that can continue.”
Elsewhere in the division, Purton Reserves suffered a shock 3-2 defeat at home to Ludgershall to damage their title hopes.
Chippenham Park missed the chance to significantly close the gap on leaders Wilts Calne Town as they drew 1-1 with Southbrook.
Other results saw Beversbrook thrashed 5-1 by Bradford Reserves, Shrewton and Corsham Reserves share a 1-1 draw and Vale of Pewsey beat Devizes Reserves 3-2.
Second-placed Chippenham Park Reserves remain significantly behind leaders Madames after they only collected a point in a 1-1 draw at Marshfield.
Finally, Marlborough Reserves managed to see off AFC Wroughton 2-0.
