BAKERS Arms’ run of five straight wins came to an end as they slipped to a 3-2 defeat to DH Fitness in Swindon Sunday League Division Seven.

After DH had opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 10 minutes, Bakers fought back well and levelled just before half-time courtesy of top scorer Michael Bown.

Visiting goalkeeper Steve Nesbitt made a string of outstanding saves to keep DH Fitness at bay but the away side could only hold out for so long, and the hosts went back ahead after the break.

Bakers refused to accept defeat, however and hit back through Callum Staffell. The goal seemed to be enough to earn the visitors a share of the spoils, but they were dealt late heartbreak as DH grabbed a winning goal, via a deflection, with the last kick of the game.

In Division Six, Urban Allstars continued their 100 per cent start to the campaign with a 4-1 victory over Greendown.

Greendown had won their last two matches but trailed 1-0 at half-time and, despite Scott Dewhirst’s first goal of the season, couldn’t get near their high-flying hosts in the second half.

There was more bad news for the visitors, as Daniel Johnson was taken to hospital with a double fracture in his right ankle.
