DEVIZES returned to the top of Southern Counties South with a bonus-point derby victory at Lacock Road.

All the damage was done in the first half as the Saddlebacks avenged a 15-11 home defeat inflicted by their rivals earlier in the season.

After 10 minutes Devizes opened the scoring, when Craig Bryant scored a well-worked try after early pressure from the pack, Andy Thompson converting.

With the visiting pack completely dominating in all facets of play, it was only a matter of time before Lewis Paget also crossed, Thompson with the extras.

Corsham came roaring back, but the Saddlebacks defended resolutely and snuffed out the threat.

With Corsham trying to force the pass under pressure, Jorge Wadman read the intercept and raced clear from 65 metres to score his 10th try of the season, converted by Thompson.

With the bit between their teeth, Devizes wrapped up the bonus point when Bryant went over for his second of the match, Thompson again with the extras.

Corsham responded as the second half fluctuated between some good passages of play from both sides, but were unable to break through, losing second row Mick Mealing and Andy Williamson to the sin-bin, while Chris Lewis was also yellow-carded for the visitors.
