MINETY put up a resilient display against table-topping Chippenham 2nds in Dorset & Wilts 1 North, but their guests’ class shone through as the visitors walked away with a 43-7 victory.
The home side’s solitary score came through Dale Langdown, whose explosive pace took him over the try line to hand Minety an early lead, but Chippenham soon hit back.
Ashley Windle thought he had put the hosts back in front with the score 12-7 to Chippenham, only for the referee to award a five-metre scrum, and from that moment on the away side were in charge.
Chippenham had the advantage of the slope in the second half and, once the visitors broke Minety’s defences out wide, they began to pull away with increasing ease.
Three further tries in the dying moments handed Chippenham their comfortable win.
