SWINDON are no nearer to completing their side for 2013 after the BSPA failed to announce their decision regarding the dispute between the Robins and Peterborough.

The Blunsdon side are keen to bring top-two Hans Andersen and Troy Batchelor back to the club for the defence of their Elite League title, but the Panthers have so far not been willing to allow their assets to return to Wiltshire on loan.

The Alwalton club are only willing to sell the pair, but the Robins believe they should be allowed to loan the duo once again because they never figured in the Panthers’ plans for 2013.

The BSPA Management Committee met in Rugby yesterday to try and settle the dispute as well as a similar one between the Panthers and King’s Lynn regarding Niels-Kristian Iversen, with Stars co-promoter Jonathan Chapman announcing last night he had been given the green light to talk to the Dane regarding a loan move.

The decision regarding Iversen makes it increasingly likely Andersen and Batchelor’s futures will be resolved in the same way, with the verdict expected to be announced later today.

This saga is boring. Every speedway fan in the country knows Hans and Batch will ride for us, NKI for Kings Lynn and Barker for Birmingham. Its just the typical speedway b*llocks that happens every winter but yet people are acting like they are genuinely worried we won't sign these riders.

Anything can happen with the BSPA but I am guessing not. Just off to get my Lottery Ticket though!

I think most of us are happy enough that we'll get our boys, what is annoying is that Peterborough are playing silly buggers over it. Their only achievement will be to make the sport look stupid. I realise they have a bit of history in that regard and it doesn't appear to bother them but it is very disappointing.

I do have a glimmer of sympathy with Peterborough. They have built an asset base which includes six of the top 20 riders in british speedway. Due to an arbitary rule they can only use two of them.

The knock on effect is that clubs like Swindon and King's Lynn who don't own any riders in the top 20 have to go cap-in-hand to clubs like Peterborough to borrow a rider or two on a season-by-season basis.

I can see Peterborough's point that Swindon and KL should buy these riders, rather than loan them season after season.

The problem with Peterborough is they have the riders on contract but cannot or will not, pay them enough wages for them to consider riding there. This makes their asset base quite worthless hence they look to sell. Other teams do not have the money to buy or will not speculate at the moment so it is deadlock. BSPA seems to want to allow Panthers to prolong the agony. They are just trying to make sure we do not have a strong team. No one is thinking of the riders - I would not blame Hans if he now made arrangements other than UK in 2013
