DON Franklin and Lewis Mees won the P. Edwards Pairs Trophy in the Swindon and District Air Rifle League at the Supermarine club.

Eleven-year old Mees of Rodbourne Cheney scored a remarkable 57, which combined with 58 for Franklin (VWH Cricklade) made 115 out of 120 and the best score of the day.

Gas Club teammates Dave Fouracre and Graham Witts were runners up on a total of 113.

In the consolation pairs, Pete Addinell of Brown Jack and Chris Valentine of Woodshaw won with a score of 109.

Possibles (60-point maximums) were scored by Martin Wills (Gas Club), Chris Elliott and Derek Rackley (VWH Cricklade).

Lambourn A beat Supermarine by a single point in the Swindon and District Air Rifle League.

They also won the Consolation Cup match between the two sides 637-620, led by a possible (60-point maximum) for Kevin Gough.

Rodbourne Cheney also defeated Nalgo in both competitions, in spite of possibles for Nicky Goringe and Gary Leighfield for the losers.

In the other league matches there were wins for Stratton RBL, Lambourn C and Gas Club, who remain at the summit of the league table, while Katherine Young scored a possible for Purton Club.
