TROWBRIDGE coach Steve Ojomoh believes his side will need to win every one of their last seven matches to have a chance of promotion at the end of the season.

The Wiltshire men chalked up their 12th win of the campaign – and their first triumph at Bath side Walcot for more than 50 years – to move within five points of second-placed Sherborne.

A second place finish would ensure a likely promotion play-off match at the end of the season, but former Bath and England star Ojomoh claims his team cannot afford any mistakes.

Matters could become clearer tomorrow week when Sherborne host leaders Devizes, with Trowbridge at home to fourth-placed Wimborne.

“What was pleasing was that we hadn’t won a game there (Walcot) for more than 50 years, so to go there and do it the way we did was very satisfactory,’’ said Ojomoh.

“It was nice to go there and get maximum points, but the reality is that we probably need to win every game.

“It’s building up to a ‘super Saturday’ next week, but from our point of view there can be no mistakes.’’

The visitors welcomed back James Davies at full-back and Mark Durrant was on the bench for his first outing for many weeks.

Trowbridge started well , full-back Davies looking dangerous whenever he came into the line.

He scored the first try after a weaving run down the touchline, Lloyd Davis landing a difficult conversion.

A strong wind made handling difficult but Trowbridge scored a second try when Barry Coombs picked up a loose ball on halfway and outstripped the defence.

Coach Steve Ojomoh brought youngster Tom Coombs into the game, replacing his namesake Barry, and Davies scored his second try after a flowing move across the three-quarter line.

Instead of pressing home their advantage Trowbridge allowed Walcot to get back into the game and conceded a soft try on the stroke of half time.

The second half started with the home side taking advantage of sloppy defensive work from the visitors.

Walcot scored a second unconverted try and for a while, Trowbridge were on the rack. Dan Smith was brought off the bench to shore things up and gradually Trowbridge worked their way back into the game.

Further tries from Kyle Knight and Dave Martin plus a conversion and penalty kicked by Davis made the game safe and gave Trowbridge a winning bonus point.

Once again Dave Martin had an outstanding game for Trowbridge with Davies making a fine return.
