SWINDON Dolphin began their preparation for the 2013 season with an 11-8 friendly win at Bristol Harlequins.

The Wiltshire side travelled down the M4 with a strong squad that included two junior members, Dan Dixon and debutant Fraser Durston.

Durston wasted little time in making an impact, scoring his first goal as Dolphin clawed their way back to 2-2 by the end of the first period.

Dolphin then started to show superior class and extended their lead over the remainder of the match to win by three clear goals.

Captain Andy Hicks led the scoring with four late efforts, while Chris Selby, Michal Trzeciak, Matt James and David Quinlivan also joined Durston on the scoresheet.

Hicks said: “The team played very well considering it was our first match since November.

“Most pleasing of all was the performance of the two juniors. They both showed real promise for the future.”

Dolphin are next in action at the Health Hydro on Sunday, February 17 (8.30pm) when they go up against Harlequins in another friendly game.
