YOUNGSTERS from Marlborough Penguins Amateur Swimming Club celebrated their achievements over the last 12 months last Friday as the club held their annual awards evening.
Mayor of Marlborough Edwina Fogg and Wiltshire ASA President Andrea Christmas were guests of honour as Juliette Cassini headlined the awards for becoming the Penguins’ first girl to achieve 100m front crawl in under a minute at Millfield last December.
At the club championships at the end of last year, six records were broken and Abi Ward took the plaudits as she set a new 100m individual medley record for the first time in 21 years.
The Penguins ‘A’ team were also honoured for winning the Moonraker League Division Four title last summer.
The Marlborough club has over 400 registered members and anyone interested in helping out as a teacher, timekeeper or event judge can contact club president Paul Robbins via www.marlboroughpenguins.com
