CHIPPENHAM TOWN: Redditch reverse is bitter pill to swallow for Bluebirds

CHIPPENHAM Town's players and management were still locked in the home dressing room almost an hour after the final whistle yesterday afternoon as the inquest into their disappointing 3-2 defeat to Redditch United began.

The Bluebirds weren't at their best at home to their Worcestershire opponents, who sit second-from-bottom in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division, but still led 2-1 midway through the first half before a late fightback from Redditch turned the game on its head.

Chippenham have gone eleven matches without a win, with their last three-point haul coming in their 3-0 victory over Kettering Town on December 1.

The Bluebirds are 16th in the table, six points ahead of Redditch, who have five games in hand, and third-from-bottom Bedworth United, who have played three games less than Nathan Rudge's side.

Chippenham chief Rudge is likely to be on the lookout for new recruits after his side were without Luke Ballinger, who re-joined Frome Town on Friday, against Redditch and Brandon Barnes, who has left Hardenhuish Park to join Paulton Rovers.

The young winger, who joined the Bluebirds from Toolstation League Bitton at the start of the season, has hit two goals in cup competitions this campaign.

Chippenham travel to Warwickshire this weekend for a vital clash with Bedworth.
