A SPIRITED second-half fight back saw Trowbridge move to second place in Southern Counties South.

The Green Lane outfit welcomed back Sean Jones at prop, while James Davies at full-back replaced the unavailable Jackson Szabo.

A strong reserve bench consisted of Sam Edwards, Lee McClurg and Jamie Little.

The first half was a tight affair with both defences on top.

Trowbridge had chances but Lloyd Davis was unlucky with a penalty attempt which hit the post.

As the half wore on Wimborne took the lead after a period of pressure which saw the ball whipped along the line for flanker Ben Hunt to score, converted by scrum-half John Blackmore.

The visitors almost scored a second try soon after but a fine defensive tackle from Davies saved the day.

David reduced arrears before half time and coach Steve Ojomoh’s half-time words seemed to do the trick as Trowbridge took the initiative.

They took the lead when Dan Smith picked up at the base of a ruck and drove over.

Ojomoh brought on Sam Edwards and Lee McClurg to beef up the scrum and, from a close-range set-piece, the Trowbridge eight drove their opponents over the line for Smith to get a second touchdown.

Davis added the extraa and they went further ahead when scrum-half Kyle Knight intercepted an attempted break out to score under the posts, converted by Davis.

The visitors scored again when Blackmore crossed.

But Trowbridge scored the final try when a break from Knight and Davis worked the ball out to Ashley Chalk to cross in the corner to earn the bonus point.
