RUGBY: Warminster 33 Salisbury 2nd 16
6:31pm Wednesday 6th March 2013 in Latest Sport News
WARMINSTER breathed new life into their battle to beat the Dorset & Wilts One South drop with a fine home success.
Bottom of the table, the Amber and Blues welcomed centre Alex Payne back after 11 months out with a broken ankle but were 8-0 down as Salisbury scored a try and penalty.
The hosts hit back almost immediately as Kris Clayton collected the ball 30 metres out and reached the line, Jason Sprangle converting, then adding a penalty to give his side the lead.
With the Warminster scrum dominant, Clayton grabbed his second try, to which Salisbury replied as home skipper Dave Coleman was sent to the sin-bin.
Sprangle nailed an early second-half penalty, cancelled out by an effort from the visitors, but Clayton grabbed his hat-trick score with Sprangle converting and then kicking a further penalty.
The bonus point was secured when captain Coleman bulldozed his way through defenders to touch down.
