Chippenham are hoping to re-sign Lewis Powell (left) from Frome
CHIPPENHAM Town have launched a bid to re-sign striker Lewis Powell from rivals Frome Town.
The 23-year-old, who left the Bluebirds to join Frome last summer, is the Robins’ top-scorer so far this season with 11 goals and is the subject of a seven-day approach from Nathan Rudge’s side.
Powell, who hit 26 league goals for Chippenham in the 2009-2010 season and broke his leg at Hardenhuish Park in January 2012, has been blighted by a groin injury this season.
Frome boss Darren Perrin said: “Lewis was on the bench for us last Saturday (at Redditch United) and we were looking to bring him on at half-time but he felt his injury when he went to strike a ball.
“We’re just waiting to see what happens once the seven days are up.”
