RUGBY: North Dorset 2nd 21 Warminster 19 (From This Is Wiltshire)

WARMINSTER felt the victims of ref justice as they were denied victory at the league’s second-placed side.

The Amber and Blues pack held the early upper hand, shunting their rivals back, but the hosts scored first with a try in the corner.

Jason Sprangle’s penalty got the visitors on the board but they spurned a try-scoring opportunity when Kris Clayton’s pass failed to find wing Lewis Noble.

Sprangle’s second penalty took them into the lead and a further kick before half time took their four points ahead.

After the break Warminster flanker Carl Hall was nudged off the ball after chasing a kick through, reducing Dorset to 14 men.

The visitors capitalised as Sprangle pounced on a loose ball and the ball was spun wide where Clayton found Noble who dived over, Sprangle pushing his side 11 points clear.

Dorset came back into it with a try from a driving maul before Then Warminster centre Alex Payne was harshly adjudged to have killed possession while effecting a turnover and a quickly-taken penalty resulted in a second score to cut the gap to a point.

The visitors were further perplexed when Clayton was sin-binned after appearing to counter-ruck and Dorset booted a penalty to take the lead.

Warminster regained the advantage as Dorset infrineged and Sprangle landed the kick.

But as they jogged back to receive the kick-off and with some players still in Dorset territory, the home side were allowed to take a quick restart which found touch.

From the restart, Dorset won the penalty which they kicked to snatch victory.
