Swindon College Old Boys hope to have something to toast on Saturday night (From This Is Wiltshire)

SWINDON College Old Boys boss Mark Roshier is hoping his side have a win to toast when they hold their annual Brewfest tomorrow night.

The Old Boys squad have once again been busy brewing their own beer which will be judged at the Pig on the Hill in Old Town in the evening, but first they have the small matter of a vital Berks/Bucks & Oxon Premier clash at home to Littlemore.

A win would strengthen the Nationwide side’s grip on second place in the table, and Roshier wants his players to make up for their defeat to leaders Stow last weekend.

“We are learning from our mistakes and it wasn’t the end of the world, and we need to regroup and go into the game with Littlemore as a priority game,” he said.

“Chipping Norton and Hungerford still have to play Stow, and they are both our nearest rivals, so I suppose it is still in our hands.

“We will talk things through when we train and warm-up, and things will be quite low-key because we don’t want the players going out and putting big hits on each other in training and getting injured.

“We have all the beers going in on Friday night for our festival, and then after the game we will go back there and the winner will be announced at half-time in the England v Wales game.

“Hopefully we will get a win and be able to toast it with a few beers together as a team.”

Littlemore beat third placed Chipping Norton 24-0 last weekend, but Roshier isn’t reading too much into the result going into this week’s game.

“We beat Littlemore well on the three times I’ve played against them with Old Boys, but I’m expecting a tough physical game from them again,” he said.

“I’m not reading too much into their win over Chipping Norton because I believe they have a few problems.

“I think they were struggling with players and to raise a side.

“We have a full strength squad bar a couple who are unavailable, so we are looking forward to the game and it should be good.”

Supermarine return to action in Southern Counties South after their game with Dorchester was postponed last weekend due to standing water on the pitch, and when the two teams meet again tomorrow coach Gavin Russ is looking to take advantage of the Dorset side’s poor run of form.

“There was a real good vibe about last weekend so it’s a shame the game couldn’t go ahead, but Dorchester have lost five on the bounce now and coming up to us is not what they are going to want to do,” he said.

“I don’t want to say they are there for the taking because that comes back to bite you, but we are not in a position now where we are going to suffer heavy defeats.

“We are buoyant about this weekend and we think it’s one we can win, and they are the team under all the pressure because of the run they’ve been on.

“They will be angry I’m sure, but we are prepared for that and we will be going out there looking for the win we think we’re capable of.”
