CHIPPENHAM TOWN: Osman nears Bridgwater move
CHIPPENHAM Town utility man Toby Osman won't be involved in the Bluebirds' clash with Stourbridge tonight as he nears a move to Bridgwater Town.
The 23-year-old is the subject of a seven-day approach from the Somerset-based Calor League Division One South and West outfit, who are managed by former Chippenham assistant Richard Fey.
And Hardenhuish Park chairman Neil Blackmore has revealed that Osman has refused to feature for the Bluebirds in tonight's game in the West Midlands.
“I can confirm Bridgwater have put in a seven-day request for Toby,” said Blackmore.
“Having spoken to Toby at length about his situation, he is adamant that he has no complaints about the team, manager or current set-up at Chippenham, apart from being dropped to the bench for last Saturday’s game (against AFC Totton).
“His reasons for wanting to leave are that he has a number of friends playing at Bridgwater and he wanted a new challenge.
“I have expressed my disappointment that he should feel the need to leave the club and that there are plenty of new challenges ahead for us.
“My disappointment is further compounded by the fact he has refused to play for us tonight at Stourbridge.”
Former Salisbury City and Frome Town man Osman joined Chippenham from Eastleigh in March 2011 and has featured as a striker, winger, central midfielder and full-back during his two-and-a-half year spell with the Bluebirds.
Osman was also named as the club's young player of the season by ex-manager Nathan Rudge at the end of the previous campaign.
Meanwhile, Chippenham chairman Blackmore confirmed that the Bluebirds have made a seven-day approach for 21-year-old Clevedon Town defender Sam Teale.
Shane Blackmore is fit to make his first appearance of the season at Stourbridge tonight whilst former Swindon Town youngster Luke Murden is nearing a return to training.
Full-back Murden was signed by Chippenham in pre-season but has been sidelined since picking up an ankle injury in the Bluebirds' friendly victory over Bristol Manor Farm in July.
