TCHOUKBALL has gained a foothold in the county after teams from Marlborough took part in a recent international competition.
The Innov8 Sports Community Interest Company's All Stars and Dream Team sides, led by Terry Bathe and Kane Greenaway, were formed in March as part of a Sportivate-funded project for Year 10 and 11 students at St John’s School.
They finished ninth and 10th at the International Beach Tchoukball Festival on Boscombe Beach. Their trip was sponsored by local business ST News, which provided kit and finance.
Tchoukball is an fast-paced, non-contact sport, played on a court and using netball/basketball-type ball passing and throwing skills, for all ages. Invented in Switzerland, it is now played at international level in more than 30 countries.
Training starts again at a turn up and play open session on Wednesday, September 25 (5-6pm) for a fee of £2.50 per head, on Elcot Lane football pitch, in Marlborough.
