SWINDON failed to replicate the form which saw them pick up their first win of the season last weekend as they crashed 5-0 at home to Cheltenham A.
The Wiltshire side won 4-2 against Westbury & UB last time out but a repeat never looked on as they were well beaten by the Gloucestershire side.
Swindon were on the back foot from the start of the game as the visitors slammed home two penalty corners inside the first 12 minutes, and things got no better before the break as Cheltenham converted another chance to make it 3-0 at the interval.
The second half saw Swindon step up and create a number of openings but they failed to convert as Tom Wickens saw two good shots saved by the visiting keeper.
Despite the home pressure Cheltenham managed to stay in control and the game completely slipped away from Swindon as the visitors struck twice to end the contest.
More worry for Swindon is the potential long-term injury to midfielder Chris Parsons who only lasted five minutes before leaving the pitch with a groin injury which is set to keep him out of this weekend’s clash with Robinsons A.
Meanwhile, North Wilts claimed the Wiltshire bragging rights with a 6-4 away win at Marlborough which leaves them third in the Central 2 table.
North Wilts A drew 2-2 with West Wilts, and the ladies 2nds lost 5-1 at Wotton-under-Edge 2nds.
