MANI Randhawa has called time on his spell at Swindon Supermarine, according to South Marston boss Dave Webb.

The defender has been beset by injury since joining Marine from Chippenham in February and has therefore had limited game time in a blue and white shirt.

And the Advertiser understands the former New College man has now decided to pull out of the Webb’s Wood Stadium setup, continuing Marine’s recent period of player upheaval.

“We’re disappointed that Mani has decided not to play any more, but that’s football I suppose and we have to get on with it,” said Webb.

“It’s an area where we’re not overloaded and if we can add one more in that area it would be great, but it has to be the right person.

“It’s vital to have some competition in the squad in every area, we have it in attack and midfield but maybe not in defence.

“We’ve got four strikers there now with Jack Hopper coming in, and also able to play on the right, but where we are probably a bit short is in the back line.

“We have two senior players not available to us at the moment in Dave Bampton and Kyle Lapham, and with Mani not playing any more we are a little bit short.

“I think we managed to patch it up well (against Thatcham) with Jake Johns having a good game after we moved him back there and Craig Curtis getting back to where he was last year is a good thing for us.”

Saturday’s win ended Marine’s winless streak of seven games in all competitions and Webb is hopeful that his team’s promotion charge from Southern League Division One South & West will now be rejuvenated.

“There is no reason why not, but it’s vital we get on a little run and go a bit unnoticed and sneak up in there,” he said.

Meanwhile in last night’s Southern League Premier Division action, Chippenham Town went down 3-1 away at AFC Totton.

Both sides were level at the break but two late goals from Totton clinched victory for the home side.
