WILTSHIRE swimmer Jazz Carlin had cause for celebration despite not making the final of the women's 800m freestyle at the European Short Course Championships in Denmark this morning
The 23 year old former Wootton Bassett School pupil clocked 8:15.66 to finish 11th fastest in the heats, despite winning her heat in Herning by more than 20 seconds.
That wasn't enough to take her through to tonight's final, but was still a new Welsh 800m short-course record.
Carlin, who is also swimming in the 200m and 400m freestyle at the event, has made no secret of her preference for the longer-course swimming.
She said on Twitter: "Wish I'd been in the final heat tonight, so hard swimming on my own but at least I now have a SC time! 400+ 200 left .
"A new best time and Welsh record though in the 800m.. So can't complain.''
