FOOTBALL ROUND-UP: Westbury and Warminster recover that winning feeling
WESTBURY United brought their run of six matches without a win in the Toolstation League First Division to an end with a crucial victory over bottom-of-the-table Portishead Town last weekend.
Simon Millard and Mark Young got the goals as Matt Bown’s side finally bounced back to winning ways.
Meanwhile, Warminster Town also shattered a six-match winless run as they came out on the right end of a five-goal thriller at second-from-bottom Oldland Abbotonians.
Joint-bosses Derek Graham and Andy Crabtree celebrated their first victory since taking charge of Warminster, who ran out 3-2 winners in South Gloucestershire.
Matt Minnis’ brace helped Bradford Town continue their imperious march at the top of the Toolstation League First Division last weekend.
Minnis netted twice on his first start of the season for Paul Shanley’s men, with Tom Welch also on target as Bradford won 3-1 at fifth-placed Cribbs.
Jason Henley’s goal handed Corsham Town a fine 1-0 victory over promotion-chasing Barnstaple Town whilst in the Premier Division, Melksham Town made it four wins from five as beat Hallen.
Defender Ryan Bennett and top-scorer Gary Higdon were on target as Darren Perrin’s men won 2-0 at the Conigre.
