PEWSEY'S Shelley Rudman finished fifth in the latest FIBT World Cup round in Igls, Austria, this afternoon - the final race before Great Britain's representatives for next month's Winter Olympic Games in Russia are selected.
Rudman, 32, who clinched her first podium position of the season at St Moritz, Switzerland, last week, finished just nine one-hundredths of a second off the podium this time as Great Britain compatriot Lizzy Yarnold won her fourth gold medal of the season.
The Wiltshire woman was seventh fastest after an opening run of 55.05 seconds, but improved with a second outing of 54.77.
2006 Winter Olympic silver medallist Rudman and Yarnold are the favourites to be named in Great Britain's Olympic team for the Games in Sochi next month. The announcement is made on Wednesday.
