DEFENDING champions Melksham Town recovered from a 2-0 deficit to book their place in the semi-finals of the Wiltshire Senior Cup last weekend.

Matty Horsell and Sam Wadieh struck to put Hellenic League Highworth Town ahead at the Conigre but Darren Perrin’s men roared back to notch up a 3-2 victory.

Gary Higdon and Dan Kovacs were both on target before Will Stead took advantage of a last-gasp error from the visiting goalkeeper to seal Melksham’s progress.

Meanwhile, Bradford Town will be joining Melksham in the last four of the county cup after they battled past Pewsey Vale.

Paul Shanley’s men were made to work hard for their victory at Trowbridge Road but battled to a 1-0 triumph thanks to a goal from substitute Dan Fowler.

Corsham Town were also knocked out of the competition as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Purton.

In the Toolstation League First Division, Wayne Wheeler was the hat-trick hero as Westbury United notched up their third victory in a row.

Matt Bown’s men are 16th in the table after winning 3-2 at Roman Glass St George.

But there was disappointment for Warminster Town as they failed to upset the odds at promotion-chasing Welton Rovers, with Derek Graham and Andy Crabtree’s men slipping to a 2-0 defeat.
