WARMINSTER eked out victory in their rearranged Dorset & Wilts One South clash against a much-changed Salisbury 2nd.

The Amber and Blues had comfortably won the previous encounter with the division’s bottom-placed side by 50 points but Salisbury made the better start and scored an unconverted try.

Guided forward by fly-half Lewis Noble’s intelligent boot, Warminster worked their way into Salisbury territory, forcing an infringment of the 22 which allowed Jason Sprangle the chance to get the home side on the board with a successful penalty.

Warminster were then dealt a blow with captain John McCredie having to leave the field due to injury.

It was his replacement, Jamie Miller, however who nearly set up Warminster’s first try.

Breaking clear down the right hand side and with Sprangle on his outside, his pass could not be gathered and the chance went begging.

The home side did take the lead though through another Sprangle penalty and soon after clinched what proved to be the final score of the game.

Warminster stole a Salisbury ball from a ruck and quickly shipped the ball out wide where a clear overlap was on offer.

Flanker James Rowbotham found himself in the backline and unselfishly passed the ball on to winger Herbeline Biscette who bagged another try in his debut season.

The second half proved to be a war of attrition with the underfoot conditions making it difficult.

Warminster’s discipline in and around the rucks did not help the cause and, as time ran out, Salisbury pressured the line to try and gain their first victory of the season, but came up against a resolute home defence.
