SUPERMARINE ran in nine tries for a 53-17 win against Melksham on Saturday though head coach Sean Millwaters felt his side were not at their best.

Marine wasted several other opportunities to add to their score with their backs making the wrong decision when facing the line with a man over.

That said the win is Marine’s 14th in a row and even with the five-point deduction they received this weeknd it leaves the South Marston side fourth in the table, just two points behind leaders Bradford-upon-Avon.

Marine also have a game in-hand on all the teams above them and know wins in all their remaining fixtures will see them crowned champions.

Millwaters was happy with the result but did feel his side could have been more clinical.

“It was a good win but we didn’t play particularly well even though we scored nine good tries, we probably missed five or six other good chances,” he said.

“We could have played a little better but I’m not complaing as we scored nine tries and have scored 150 points in the last three games.”

Matty Dickens got another hat-trick to move to 25 tries for the season, Killian Spain also got three. The other three scores where from Alex Robinson, George Cowley and John Mason, who scored his first try for the club.

Millwaters said he was being hyper-critical of his side but definitely felt his backs tried to do too much on their own with the try-line in sight.

“It’s a bit hard so to say it wasn’t a good performance, I’d say out of the last three games it was our least best performance.

“The backs got a bit of white line fever, we don’t care who scores as it’s the team who scored.

“It think we’re getting better week on week and we’re playing a really nice brand of rugby at the moment.”

Next up Supermarine are league leaders Bradford, a game that will be crucial in deciding the title.
