ALUN Rossiter admitted injured reserve Darryl Ritchings will be at the forefront of the Robins’ thoughts at Belle Vue tonight but insisted his riders can’t afford to think about their teammate too much during the meeting.

Purton’s Ritchings is in intensive care with brain bruising following a track crash on Thursday night against Coventry with Dan Greenwood drafted in as a replacement for tonight’s fixture with the Aces.

“Of course we will all be thinking about Darryl, that’s only natural because all of our thoughts are with him,” Rossiter said.

“It was a bad crash and we all wish him all the best for a speedy recovery, we’re all thinking of him and his family.”

“We need to go out and do a job though because we are professional sports people. I’m sure all the riders will ask about him before the meeting but you can’t go into it thinking too much about it because you won’t be in the right frame of mind.

“You need to focus on the racing.”

Rossiter has selected club asset Mads Korneliussen to guest for the Robins in the absence of captain Troy Batchelor, and the Swindon boss knows the Dane won’t let him down.

“Mads goes well round there, I’ve checked up on his previous scores and they’ve all been good,” he said.

“He’s a good guy and a good rider and I know he will give 100 per cent for me.”

Reserve Steve Worrall has enjoyed an impressive weekend with Premier League side Edinburgh as they hammered Berwick in the League Cup over two legs, meaning Rossiter is expecting big things from the youngster “I’ve said all along that it could be his year this year and hopefully it will be,” he said.
