Bassett Hound Purvey utilises spring weather to win Event Logic duathlon

ROYAL Wootton Bassett Hound Tim Purvey won the third annual Event Logic duathlon on Sunday.
Purvey went round in a 1:20:35 and wasdelighted with his performance, especially a very quick bike section which was aided by the spring weather conditions. Adrian Giles and Tim Richards took second and third respectively.
Natalie Thomas set a course record at Abbeyfield School to win the women’s event.
Thomas set a blistering pace on the first 5km run section and maintained it throughout the remaining 22km bike ride and final 5km run to win in 1:25:46. Sarah Smith and Sarah Alvis completed the women’s podium.
The meet also featured a 10km flat race later in the morning, Josh Taylor of Bath Athletcs Club winning the men’s race on the challenging off-road track with varied underfoot conditions. Jonathan Griffin came in second followed by Nathan Collinson. Anna Fisher won on the women’s 9km course in 43:04, followed by Laura Britton and Julie Trudgen.
In the individual time trial 22km for cyclists. Andy Morgan roared round the highly technical course to take first 39:46.
The event was rounded off with a 2km junior fun run. Charlie Haines took and maintained an early lead to win the boys’ event in a very nippy 6:52. Alice Gates took the girls’ top spot in a time of 8:07.
