NICOLAI Klindt says that he was left speechless when he was told the news that he was being axed by Swindon Robins.

The Dane was informed of team manager Alun Rossiter’s decision to release him while out for an evening meal.

And now the 25-year-old admits that he may have to sell one of his bikes or even get a day job to make ends meet should he not get himself fixed up with another Elite League club.

“When I spoke to Alun and he told me the news I said to him ‘are you p****** about?’ and he said he wasn’t. I was speechless,” Klindt told the Adver. “It’s a f****** joke, I think it is b*******.

“Alun made out that I had no confidence but that is rubbish, I just wasn’t getting my gating off the clutch.

“If you look at my scores, Coventry aside, I have been scoring between fives and eights every time.

“I rode in Germany at the weekend and my dad came to see me for the first time in a year and he said I’m riding better than I have done for a quite a while - I’m just speechless.”

Having been replaced by Australian Dakota North, Klindt feels that he is being made a scapegoat for Swindon’s poor start to the Elite League campaign.

The Robins have now lost four of their of five matches to date, the win coming against Belle Vue Aces, which included a paid second and a heat victory for Klindt.

“I’m not the lowest scorer in the team,” he said. “I know that I’m not scoring 10s and 12s, but it is not as if I’m getting zeros, twos and threes either.

“I’m not sure what I’m going to do now. I’ve got an option I’m waiting to hear back on for an Elite League club.

“If that doesn’t come off then I may have to sell one of my bikes, I’m not riding just to look cool, I’m in it to make money.

“Maybe I’ll get a regular job and just ride in Poland, because even after expenses I’ll make more than in the Premier League.

“I’m only 25, I’ve got ambitions, but I’ve got a mortgage and baby to think about too.”

Previously, Rossiter explained his decision to drop Klindt by saying: “I don’t like this part of the job, and to be honest I’m not comfortable with it either, but I had to act.

“Nicolai is lacking in confidence, and perhaps given time he might have improved, but that is something that I don’t have - I had to make this decision with the best interest of the team.”
