Royal Wootton Bassett RFC’s touch rugby season is set to commence on Friday, May 23.

Training sessions will start at 6.30pm at the club’s prestigious Ballards Ash complex in Wootton Bassett Touch rugby co-ordinator Keith Humphries explained: “These sessions are free and open to all – whether members of our club or not. The club have sufficient facilities to be able to welcome all members of the wider community - the local Otters Swimming Club along with local football sides have all particpated in touch sessions and we would welcome anyone regardless of age or experience to come along.

“Last season we welcomed many seasoned rugby players who were looking to maintain their fitness through the summer.

“Touch rugby is also a wonderful way of encouraging the wider community to come along and enjoy the game. Last season we were fortunate enough to have great attendance from our mini, junior and colts sections and were able to entice a number of new players to the club through this initiative.

“With our connections with England Ladies fly half Ceri Large we also hope to add to the number of ladies of all abilities who attended last season. With a great number of female students from local schools loyally attending many of our youth matches this is a great opportunity for them to come along as well and give touch rugby a go.”

Humphries will be joined by club coaching co-ordinator Stuart Fulling at the first session which is set to kick off at 6.30pm on Friday, May 23.
