THE twin threat of Swindon assets Jason Doyle and Mads Korneliussen will be the biggest challenge to the Robins this evening, according to boss Alun Rossiter.

The pair have proved an integral part of Leicester’s first foray into the Elite League this season and their knowledge of the Blunsdon circuit could prove vital to a Lions side which also includes Lasse Bjerre, who was briefly a Robins in 2012, and guest Ben Barker.

Rossiter has been impressed with how the Lions have conducted themselves since moving into the top flight but, despite the strength of Doyle and Korneliussen, knows nothing less than three points will do this evening as his side bid to move up the league table.

“I think they’ve got a good little support going, which seems a bit old fashioned, they sing, cheer and make songs up which I really like,” he said.

“You don’t see that very often now but it’s good to see. It’s hard for them because they’re new to it but they do have some good riders.

“It’s a bit of a Swindon select with Steady (Simon Stead), Mads (Korneliussen) and Doyley (Jason Doyle) there who are all good riders.

“Mads and Doyley will be the dangers for us because they always do well against us. It’s a Swindon threat really because we would like to think we have enough to cover the rest although we can’t be complacent.

“We need to get three points, simple as that, but the league is upside down for us. A lot of teams have banged in loads of home matches and we’ve been away.

“If you throw in a load of home matches which we should be winning then we should really start to move up the league.”

Doyle will take to the track for the first time this evening since suffered a heavy fall while riding for Australia in the second round of the Best Pairs in Germany, an incident which left Rossiter shocked.

“It looked really nasty but he’s been able to recharge a bit after a nasty bang to the leg,” he said.

“It seems to me the rider who hit him (Maksims Bogdanovs) seems to have no remorse for what he did. It was a terrible move and he just blamed Doyley which is really shocking.

“It could have been worse because his leg got stuck but I’m sure once he gets his first ride out the way he will be able to show what a class rider he is.”
