DO YOU know a talented youngster who needs a financial boost to take them to the next level of their sport?

If so the Gazette & Herald would like to hear from you so we can put them forward for a grant of up to £500.

For the second year running the Gazette & Herald has joined forces with Devizes- based Bag4Sport Foundation to help nurture talent and help youngsters pay for coaching, kit or travelling costs in our ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ campaign.

You can nominate your own child, a pupil you teach or a youngster you coach but we will need to know why they need help and their achievements to date.

Any youngster up to the age of 16 can be nominated but they must not already be receiving a grant from the Lottery or their sporting body.

We will pick one winner and one runner-up from each of the Gazette & Herald three edition areas – Devizes, Marlborough and North Wiltshire. Grants of £500 will go to the three winners and £100 to the three runners-up.

More information about the initiative is available on the Bag4Sport website bag4sport.co.uk or our website gazetteandherald.co.uk.

Look out for a nomination form in the Gazette & Herald each week or email to foundation@bag4sport.co.uk with your nominations and reasons why. The closing date for nominations is July 31, 2014.

Bag4Sport Foundation is trying to make a difference to the lives of people of all ages by holding fundraising events and making grants.

The latest organisation to receive cash was Devizes Opportunity Centre – another good cause being backed by the Gazette & Herald with its Give Us A Chance appeal.

Bag4Sport Foundation director Andy Trusler visited the centre, which looks after children with special needs, along with Eleanor Harper from Goughs solicitors to make a presentation of £500 to the appeal.

The money was raised by the Goughs team which competed in a 24-hour spinathon at Route2Fitness gym in Devizes back in February.

The next event will be a golf day at North Wilts Golf Club on May 20. The latest sponsor for this day is Awdry Bailey and Douglas solicitors but more are still needed.

Four Bag4Sport supporters are also in training for the Ben Nevis Challenge of mountain hiking, canoeing and cycling on June 7.

Trusler said: “We can only make grants to help grass roots sport and support other groups if people sponsor our events or join in our challenges. We would love to hear from anyone who would like a team in the golf day, run in the London 10k or join our Devizes to Paris cycle ride.’’

Events:

May 29: Charity golf day, North Wilts Golf Club

June 7: Ben Nevis Challenge

July 13: London 10K

August 2-4: Devizes to Paris cycle ride
