GOLFER Thomas Edwards, last year named as a Gazette & Herald Star of Tomorrow, was helping to raise money for other talented youngsters today.
The 17-year-old was part of the Bag4Sport Foundation team in its charity day at North Wilts Golf Club.
Last year, Edwards was one of six teenagers to receive grants of up to £500 in a competition organised by the charity with the support of the Gazette & Herald.
Joining him today to raise money for Bag4Sport Foundation was Andrew Douglas, a partner in the solicitors Awdry, Bailey and Douglas, which has offices in Devizes, Marlborough, Chippenham and Wootton Bassett.
The firm were sponsoring the nearest the pin prize on hole 13 and entering a team in the competition.
Douglas said: “The number 13 is a lucky one for me and now it will be lucky for someone else. We are pleased to be involved as we had heard about the work of Bag4Sport and this event will encourage people to take part in sport and get fit.”
This is the second year that the Gazette & Herald is joining forces with Devizes based Bag4Sport Foundation to find Sports Stars of Tomorrow in Wiltshire.
We need your help to identify youngsters who need a financial boost to make the most of their sporting talent.
Last year grants of £500 were given to three winners and £100 to three runners-up and the charity will do the same again for 2014.
We are on the hunt for more emerging talent to receive help.
The winners are likely to be youngsters who have already stated to make their mark on their chosen sport but could do with help with coaching, kit or travelling costs.
You can nominate your own child, a pupil you teach or a youngster you coach but we will need to know why they need help and their achievements to date.
Any youngster up to the age of 16 can be nominated but they must not already be receiving a grant from the Lottery or their sporting body.
We will pick one winner and one runner-up from each of the Gazette’s three edition areas – Devizes, Marlborough and North Wiltshire.
